Pinot Noir

ABOUT OUR PINOT NOIR

Sourced from our two Estate Vineyards, located in the McMinnville AVA and Yamhill Carlton AVA. Dry-Farmed and tended with care to produce low yield fruit with optimal flavor showcasing the Willamette Valley. Hand-picked grapes, winemaker instinct, low intervention, thoughtful blending, fine French oak, and the magic of the land are the elements that create our world-class Pinot Noir.

ABOUT OUR CHARDONNAY

In a valley known for its Pinot Noir, our 2019 Chardonnay is truly a standout. A young, dry wine that shows great aging potential—it’s ready to drink now or cellar for later. The acidity nicely balances the oak. Aromas of sweet pear, apple, white currant, and lemon verbena let you dream of summertime in Oregon.

Chardonnay

Rosé

ABOUT OUR ROSÉ

Made from 100% Pinot Noir, our 2020 Rosé is bright, crisp, and refreshing. A hint of sweetness, red fruit with dried herbs, wildflowers, and strawberry rhubarb pie—with a touch of minerality—greet you on the nose. A great balance of acidity and red fruit with an herbal edge offer complexity that your palate will love. Perfect for brunch and al fresco dining.

Oak Aged to Perfection

La Biblioteca uses only the finest French Oak made by the most sought-after and long-established artisan coopers: Billon, Mercurey, Damy, Chassin, Seguin Moreau, and Francois Freres in Burgundy. Our tailormade, toasted barrels are handpicked to showcase the characteristics of each of our exceptional wines. Using 30% new oak for our Chardonnay and 26% for our Pinot Noir, La Biblioteca’s aging process ensures the perfect harmony between wood and wine. Our low-intervention approach in the cellar and the vineyard makes wines with personality and intrigue that beautifully reflect the Willamette Valley. We limit our production to 1,200 cases per year and look forward to sharing our wines with you.

Meet Our Winemakers

Robert Brittan

Winemaker/Viticulturist

A fascination and passion for winemaking started early for Robert Brittan. He began what would be an illustrious career by making wine as a teenager in his dorm room at Oregon State in the early 1970s. He completed his formal education at UC Davis, California. Next, he moved to Napa Valley and made wines for Far Niente, St. Andrews, and Stags’ Leap. Though celebrated as a legendary California winemaker, Robert longed for a new challenge: producing wine in cooler climates. He packed his bags and headed north. In 2004 Robert landed in Oregon and launched his own label, Brittan Vineyards.

Robert was thrilled to partner with La Biblioteca and develop their estate vineyards: Wapato Ridge and Aegrina. He understood their potential and knew he could make wines that were authentic expressions of Oregon and its terroir. Using minimal intervention, sustainable practices, and years of wisdom, Robert and associate winemaker Emily Terrell craft exquisite La Biblioteca Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that represent the essence of the Willamette Valley.

Emily Terrell

Associate Winemaker

Emily Terrell also felt the pull of winemaking in her undergraduate years as a student at the University of Washington. She went on to earn a master’s in wine biotech at the University of British Columbia and spent three years in the cellars, vineyards, and labs of New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and France. A growing interest in the site-driven nuances of Pinot Noir led Emily to the beautiful Willamette Valley. In 2013 she joined the team at Brittan Vineyards inspired by its culture of excellence. She works closely with Robert, a fellow scientist, to create unique estate wines of distinction.
